Am I a Candidate for a Smile Makeover?

A smile is one of the greatest forms of communication that we have and can be understood by everyone irrespective of their age, culture and language. People who have a great smile are thought of as being friendly, open and honest, and if you have great teeth, you can be sure to have an attractive smile too. Unfortunately, sometimes the condition of our teeth means that our smile falls a little short of the effect that we want to create, and in some cases, we may be so concerned about the appearance of our teeth that we don’t want to smile and show our teeth whatsoever.

Fortunately, you don’t have to accept a less than perfect smile. There is now an array of cosmetic dentistry procedures that are specifically designed to improve the appearance of your teeth so that you can feel confident sharing your smile with the world. Sometimes these procedures are combined into one treatment known as a Smile Makeover.

What is a Smile Makeover?

A Smile Makeover is a name given to a treatment program that contains a number of different cosmetic dental procedures that are necessary in order to help patients achieve the stunning smile of their dreams. A combination of treatments is often needed because there are multiple aspects of your teeth that need to be addressed if you are to be satisfied with your result.

There are various different procedures that can be included in a smile makeover, which will be tailored to your specific needs. These include:

Teeth whitening:
the most commonly requested cosmetic dental procedure in the world, in-office, professional whitening helps to remove stains and discoloration from the teeth and leaves patients with a gleaming smile that is shaded brighter than before.

Porcelain veneers:
these can be used to cover the outer-facing enamel of the teeth to hide imperfections such as chips and cracks, as well as closing small gaps between the teeth and making them all an even height and thickness.

Dental bonding: this is where a tooth-colored resin is pasted onto the teeth and molded to cover imperfections such as chips and gaps. Once in position, it is hardened using a special light and your teeth are polished to finish.

Crowns: Crowns aren’t only a functional solution. They are also used to replace teeth that are unsightly because they are eroded, stained or cracked. Crowns sit over the top of natural teeth hiding them underneath and are custom-designed to blend in naturally with the rest of your smile.

Invisalign: if you have teeth that are crooked, twisted, gapped or overlapping, you may need an orthodontic solution to bring them into better alignment. Invisalign is one of the most popular forms of orthodontic treatment since the program uses clear aligners instead of metal braces to shift the teeth into their new position. It can also be used to alter your bite by changing the position of your jaw.

Am I a good candidate for a smile makeover?

Virtually every patient is considered a good candidate for at least one cosmetic dentistry procedure, but this doesn’t automatically make you suitable for every type. Before we can approve you for a smile makeover, you will first need to attend a consultation appointment so that your teeth can be assessed. After this, a plan for the procedures that you ideally need to help you achieve the smile of your dreams will be created based on your individual needs. Often, it may be that some cosmetic dental treatments are more suitable for some patients than others. For example, patients with sensitive teeth are often recommended to have dental bonding or veneers instead of whitening since their teeth may be too sensitive to tolerate the bleach used in the whitening procedure.
